Pilgrim Prayer Challenge – Week Two

5 Weekly Encouragements for Praying Pilgrims!

2. Prayer: Release your burdens

“For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far as He has removed our transgressions from us.”  Psalm 103:11-12

Listen to that description in the verse above: “as far as the east is from the west.” Prayer
is an opportunity to confess and release our sin to the Only One willing and capable to
handle it; the Only One who can make our confessed sin vanish instantly in His forgiveness.
Sin is a heavy burden to carry. Sin includes anything that turns our eyes away from faith
in our Savior – our fears, our doubts, our insecurities, our guilt, our apathy and laziness,
the list goes on and on.

When we pray it is an opportunity to lay it all out there! Spend time in prayer confessing to the Lord everything that is troubling you. Spread it out before Him in detail, and then feel the sweet release of knowledge that He has already shouldered your sin on the cross, and is still willing to carry it.

**Helpful Hint: It may sound old-fashioned, and it may even feel silly, but try praying on your knees. This posture instantly helps us identify our weakness before God’s greatness.
